What makes this show different
- 1Capped at 45 guests — small enough that every seat hears the unamplified voices.
- 2Fully acoustic: no microphones, no pickups, no PA — just guitars and voice in a small room.
- 3Award-winning singers and musicians from Lisbon’s active Fado scene.
- 4Glass of port wine (or juice) included with every ticket.
A small Baixa room, no microphones
Lisboa em Fado is a compact concert room on Rua do Crucifixo in Baixa, two minutes from Praça do Comércio and the metro at Baixa-Chiado. The space takes a maximum of 45 guests, which is part of the point: with no microphones and no amplification, the size of the room matters more than the size of the stage.
Each set runs roughly 50 minutes and mixes traditional Fado classics with newer pieces, performed by award-winning Lisbon fadistas accompanied by Portuguese guitar and viola. Short video segments give context about Fado’s history before some of the songs. A glass of port wine (or fruit juice) is included with every ticket.
Multiple sets run nightly, so you can pick a time that fits before or after dinner in Baixa. The official venue website is lisboaemfado.pt.

The music was beautiful! We were glad they provided some of the history and context of the music as well.
Karen · Canada · May 2026We absolutely loved this. We knew nothing about Fado music and this was an excellent introduction. The musicians and singers were superb.
Jennifer · New Zealand · May 2026Enjoyed the Fado show and performances. Great musicians, especially liked the Portuguese guitar. Singers were very good. Fun to experience local musical culture.
Michelle · United States · May 2026Exceptional voices — this was my first experience of Fado, it did not disappoint. A must-do if you are in Lisbon.
Semra · United Kingdom · April 2026A small heads-up before you book
- Some travelers mention that the video segments between songs felt a bit long — if you’d prefer more uninterrupted Fado, sit close and focus on the live sets between the clips.
- Seating is unallocated. Arriving 15 minutes before showtime gives you the best chance at a front-row chair in the small room.
- Because the room is fully acoustic, the experience really depends on the audience staying quiet — phones away and conversations paused once the music starts.
